I have no idea…
I know how I chose in my primary. And let me tell you as an Independent, I was very pleased that the state I live in, West Virginia, I was allowed to choose the party I wanted to vote for. And it wasn’t hard to choose which one was more important: So I chose the Republican primary ticket -
NOT!
Today, I was, out of the Democrat 2 to 1 that the TV bobble heads keep talking about, I was the 1. Yep, even when the electronic machine malfunctioned and the polling place lady saw my vote, I was a proud 1 of the 2-er. Mind you, neither candidate was MY original candidate. And I would want nothing more than a woman running this country, however, it was all about the corporate shills for me. Frankly, those who have been shills for much longer than the other did NOT get my vote.
So there, that’s my story and I”m stickin’ to it. Be good and vote. If you don’t vote, you have no reason to complain, unless of course you are under 18 then you should get involved and talk to your parents or those who you are close to that vote. Sometimes adults are dumb and they make very bad decisions, so it’s up to you to try. I tried with my mom: she voted for Bush twice (I am STILL cringing), no matter how hard I tried she simply argued and out of spite voted for the chimp. Adults/Parents can be just as rebellious as their children.
Apathy is a cancer, so put down those cheetohs, turn off the tube and make a difference. Even if the person you wanted to win didn’t, it doesn’t matter, because as long as you do something, someday it’s going to pay off.
Hearts and kisses to you all,
Aan

This was the palomino gig. It was rare that Aan and I both played.

“Hello Leta!” I can hear it echo around the back room of the old church now, as I stand up, taking that first step to admit I had a problem…. Actually, it was a great time in my life. For those brief years, when I stood in for jughead as bass player, I was doing something I never thought I could do…I performed on stage, sang out loud, played my bass, and was part of the music scene. Now I live the quiet life….but still, for a while….I was a star (granted, not talented and not destined for greatness, but all in all it was a great ride.) I think I’ll sit back down now. When do I get my chip?

The Sterilles would play BeBop Records in Reseda California a LOT. The owner and all around swell guy Richard, must of had some mighty fine ear plugs to have put up with our racket. BeBop is long gone, but remains a truly fond memory. Does anyone remember the night of a BeBop show, that I gut stuck in a restroom in a Mexican Restaurant? I think it was Richard who helped get me out…. It’s really scary to be stuck in a bathroom with no way out.

Babs was a unicycling, top hat wearing, speed skatin’ dame who could play drums and keyboards at the same time! She was absolutely dynamic! I remember Babs’ parents’ home in Eagle Rock was our practice pad for a while. It was in that room that “On the Rag” was created. I hear that once a year an image of a winged pad appears on the tree trunk of the front lawn. Next year, we really should leave lit candles, ladies.

Allow me to say one thing as time passes on…I sometimes wish I could go back for a few hours. I will always remember the Sterilles as “Women with Big Amps” “We’re the Sterilles and Your not” or “Testing Testing Yeast…1..2..Yeast” or “We’re the Sterilles and we’d do anything for a free meal”. Those were some whacked out times.
I wonder how the whole practice in the garage thing has changed over the years. With the digital medium so accessible and incredible loops to be used…do kids really get together a play really loud anymore with real instruments? I hope so.
Like someone once told me…the first post is never Shakespeare.
There is a Sterille that I have yet to find so Rajiv Parikh, tabla player of the millennium, should you stumble upon my humble post…say hello.

Hello girls…and boys
This is the first post to The Sterilles.com. It was 20 years ago almost to the day that we were in the studio making our remarkably horrible (yet secretly brilliantly funny at least to us girls anyway) EP “On the Rag” in South Central Los Angeles. Now that we are getting close to perimenopause, perhaps this is a nice little fling into the past. All of us have grown wiser during the past 20 years. Some of us have had children, all of us girls have been married. One married 20 years this year on May 16th! One married once or thrice, the other two well it’s hard to say, they’ve been married a long time too.
I have had many nicknames in the band, Jughead being one…but I once played the bass and am the chick with the ratty hair on the left.
I am just throwing this post out to the ethers, as I was tired of seeing the coming soon page and well, I wanted a diversion from my work. So girls if you see this post before I’ve had a chance, you will all be getting your own user name and such so that you all can post too!
